Turns out I was in three films at the Arlene's fest. ( I gotta start paying attention.)
A hat trick. (Whatever that is.)
Saw Ben Gazzara cooling his heels after the awards ceremony, waiting for a driver to show up. (Said driver purportedly succumbed to the lure of Katz's Delicatessen.) While the actor waited semi-patiently, a seemingly drunk, 50-ish, short-haired, rock-type guy stood in the street singing about rough boys or something like that. (He was pretty damn good too!) Gazarra finally caught a lift from someone claiming to be his cousin, so the powers that be at Arlene's debated whether to give Rudy Ray "Dolemite" Moore a thrill and let him have the car if it ever showed up.
By the way, Gazzara's award was a trophy-mounted can of tomatoes, which he was thinking he might actually use in the kitchen. (He could then reseal the can and he'd still have his trophy. It's the gift that keeps on giving.)
In other news, last night's WYSIWYG Talent Show at P.S. 122 was very enjoyable. It was my first time appearing in the important performance space and I hope I get to do it again soon.
That's it for now.
See ya around,
Andrew
